Sustainability

Our theme "New waves of thinking" emphasizes the importance of the history of scientific discovery. It is also these kind of discoveries that have made us realize in last decade, that the influence of the human lifestyle is threatening entire ecosystems that we would like to study. It is therefore, that the JSM3 is also enacting various measures to make this year's conference as climate friendly as possible.

Concretely, the 6th edition of the JSM3 is...

  • abandoning paper for the abstracts and program of the conference

  • taking an emphasis on locally produced and seasonal products in the selection for the cafeteria (in collaboration with the CNRS Sodexo cantine)

  • reducing plastics during the coffee and lunch breaks through re-usable Ecocups and ceramics ware

  • restricting the search of keynote-speakers to Europe instead of the world in order to reduce transportation related emissions

  • setting in place a waste sorting system

  • awarding environmentally friendly poster prizes as well as participation goods
